When we are no longer able to change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves. That’s written, said, discussed and followed. Nowadays change is around every corner; in my day it was only around the expected ones. Today people think different; like everything else, thoughts have changed. People think that after you’ve done a thing the same way for one year, look it over carefully. After two years, look at it with suspicion. And after three years, throw it away and start all over. Change is fun, enjoyable, amusing, entertaining, painful, sore, agonizing, but inevitable. Without accepting the fact that everything changes, we cannot find perfect composure. But unfortunately, although it is true, it is difficult for us to accept it. Because we cannot accept the truth of transience, we suffer. If it’s any respite, if you’re in a bad situation, don’t worry it’ll change. If you’re in a good situation, don’t rest, it’ll change as well. Those who expect moments of change to be comfortable and free of conflict have not learned their history. There is a certain relief in change; while travelling in a car, it is often a comfort to shift one’s position, and be bruised in a new place.

We do not change as we grow older; we just became more clearly ourselves. It is neither the strongest of the species that survive, nor the most intelligent, but the one most responsive to change. What you have become is the price you paid to get what you used to want. Faced with the choice between changing one’s mind and proving that there is no need to do so, almost everyone gets busy on the proof. That’s life. Change always comes bearing gifts. Remember that just because things are different, doesn’t mean anything has changed.

People never change. Only their costumes do. The only man I know who behaves sensibly is my tailor; he changes my measurements anew each time he sees me. The rest go on with their old measurements and expect me to fit them.

For many people a job is more than an income – it’s an important part of who we are. So a career transition of any sort is one of the most unsettling experiences you can face in your life. I know that it is not titles that honor men, but men that honor titles. I pray to god to grant me the serenity to accept the situations I cannot change, the courage to change the one I can and understand the fact that I’m me, and I’ll always be me!
